Recently, CCS released the 2022 edition of Guidelines for the Design and Installation of Ship Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems.
CCS said that in order to adapt to the requirements of on-board application of ship exhaust gas cleaning technology and implementation of SOx emission control regulations, and improve the applicability, accuracy and operability of ship exhaust gas cleaning system specifications and standards, CCS has upgraded and updated the Guidelines for Design and Installation of Ship Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (2015) based on the application experience of exhaust gas cleaning system, industry feedback and new requirements of IMO/IACS, The Guidelines for Design and Installation of Ship Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (2022) has been formulated.
The main contents of this revision include:
Preface: Appendix 1 is added to supplement the information on special requirements for ship SOx emission control in relevant countries/regions.
Chapter 1, modify the scope of desulfurizer applicable to the Guide; Supplement/modify definitions and terms related to EGC system.
Chapter 2, modify the material selection requirements of EGC unit and its components; Modify the adaptability requirements for exhaust parameters of EGC system and fuel burning device; Modify the setting requirements of booster fan; Modify the requirements for bypass and other equivalent measures; Supplement/modify the safety requirements related to the storage/supply of NaOH/Ca (OH) 2 solution (collectively referred to as alkali solution) and MgO/Mg (OH) 2 solution (collectively referred to as slurry) on board; Revise the requirements for redundant setting of washing water supply pressure monitoring and supply pump.
Chapter 3, new requirements for EGC unit and its components to adapt to high exhaust temperature; Modify the requirements for preventing washing water from pouring back into the fuel burning device; Delete redundant setting requirements for pumps and fans; Modify the requirements for washing water treatment unit.
Chapter 4, modify the control, monitoring alarm and safety protection requirements of EGC system.
Chapter 6 is added to supplement the detailed requirements for EGC system product inspection, initial inspection and post construction inspection.
The Guidelines for the Design and Installation of Ship Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (2022) will come into force on July 1, 2022. After taking effect, it will replace the Guidelines for Design and Installation of Ship Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (2015).
